Islamica: Jurnal Studi Keislaman serves as a continuation of its predecessor, Akademika (ISSN: 1410-7457), which was first published in February 1997. Following its second accreditation, Islamica introduced significant changes to its format and cover design—shifting from the A4 paper size to a 16x24 cm layout and replacing the institution-logo-based cover with a more modern, logo-free design. The journal received reaccreditation on July 24, 2012, under the decree of the Director General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Number: 56/DIKTI/Kep/2012. Further accreditation was obtained online via the ARJUNA system in 2017, pursuant to the decree of the Director General for Research and Development Enhancement, Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, Number: 32a/E/KPT/2017, dated April 26, 2017.
